LATEST NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

FINA World Champs 2019- Gwangju, South Korea

From July 21st to the 28th of August I competed at the FINA world Champs! It was a phenomenal experience and my first time back on the international stage since the 2016 Olympic Games. There were many great races and I learned a lot from the swim meet!

I did not have the best meet of my life, but I was still able to finish within the top 20 in the world in the 100m and 200m backstroke! Although they are not my desired results, it is a starting point for the Olympics next year! I have the utmost faith that I can win my events next year. It will take a valiant effort, but with God, nothing is impossible!

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me with my swimming! If it was not for my support team, it would make competing and training a lot harder! I am excited for what is to come and I will share my journey as it unfolds!

South African Olympian Christopher Reid to Join NC State Post-Grad Group

During the month of April, I returned to South Africa to visit family and compete at the 2019 South African World Championships Trials. Not only was it incredibly refreshing to go back to the motherland, but it was also incredibly rewarding. At the nationals meet, I managed to qualify for the 2019 FINA World Championships which will be held in Gwangju, South Korea this July! I had radical improvements in the 50m backstroke (0.50 second time drop) and 200m backstroke (1 second time drop). Currently, I am ranked 9th in the world for the 200m backstroke!

Thank you to God for allowing me to glorify Him in my sport daily and thank you to everyone for the support given during this time!
